Spire Poetry Poster, a quarterly poetry broadside

From November 2003 to April 2007 Spire Poetry Poster, though never as reliable as the moon, existed as a monthly publication.

Now in its fifth year, Spire will be shifting to a quarterly print schedule. This not only will increase the sustainability of Spire's mandate as an independent venture, but will allow for a more rigorous selection process of the poetry that Spire publishes.

In addition to the publication of four broadsheets per year, Spire continues to be dedicated to the creation of special one-time runs of related ephemera, such as the Spire Poetry Postcard series.

Call for Submissions

With the new print schedule Spire will also be making a fresh start. Accordingly, poets are invited to submit their original work for consideration in upcoming issues.

Here are some rough guidelines to consider:

Spire Poetry Poster publishes original poetry by new and established poets from Canada and beyond.

There is no submission deadline, though the limited format space and print runs do present certain constraits:

  • Spire is published four times per year.
  • Each broadsheet appears on one legal sized (8.5 x 14 inches) page. Accordingly, poems should not be epic in length.
  • Spire's tastes are varied - there are no guidelines for subject or style.
  • Electronic submissions are preferred, and can be in any common formatting style (Mac or PC).

Along with your submission, please include a short bio (including previous publication experience) and contact information (mailing and email addresses).
